From the Director

Kelle Moley

Welcome to the RSDP!

This year, 2018, marks the 30th anniversary of the RSDP!   Founded in 1988 by Dr. Robert Jaffe and the late Dr. Lawrence Longo, this program continues to support the career development of Physician Scientists interested in pursuing careers in academic Obstetrics and Gynecology.

We currently have 92 former scholars and 12 active scholars.  The Program, funded by a K12 mechanism from NICHD and non-federal funds from seven different organizations, moved to Washington University in St. Louis as of July 1, 2013 with Dr. Kelle Moley as the Program Director and Ms. Amanda Heflin, MBA as Program Administrator.  In the coming grant cycle (2018-2023) we welcome Dr. Danny Schust as he assumes the role of Associate Program Director!  Danny, like Kelle, is a former RSDP Scholar, who is heavily invested in the RSDP program.   His participation as the new Associate Director will help to move this program into the future.

We the new grant cycle, we will have funds from NICHD to cover 2 RSDP scholars a year for four years, 2 years of Phase I and 2 years of Phase II. We also continue to fund scholars from generous contributions from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist (ACOG), the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG), Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF), the March of Dimes, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Society for Reproductive Investigation (SRI), and our newest contributor, the GOG Foundation.

We also plan to continue offering the Seed and Supplement Grant Program for active scholars and recent graduates along with travel awards for active scholars who attend and present their work at the SRI annual meeting.  We are dedicated, as are our sponsors, to support Physician Scientists in their endeavors to ask research questions and to tackle critical topics in maternal-fetal health and reproductive medicine using a lab-based approach.

We are looking forward to continued success of the RSDP program. I invite you to explore our website and to contact the RSDP office if you have any questions or suggestions regarding our program.

Sincerely,

Kelle H. Moley, M.D.
Program Director
